Fashion Features: Fedora Flair

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

I have so many wonderful friends who are into fashion, so I thought, "Why not feature them!" I am excited to introduce some of the fabulous fashionistas I call friends.

Meet Erica.

This outgoing shoe lover has a unique style that revolves around her enormous, not to mention fabulous,  shoe collection. With more than sixty pairs of shoes, she usually puts an outfit together by choosing from her wide assortment of styles and colors.

However, this time, it wasn't all about the shoes for this fashionista.  Erica was inspired by another stylish accessory, the fedora.

I was really inspired when I saw the fedora. To me, it has a vintage mood about it. I knew I wanted a menswear influenced look so I paired it with a black vest and my beloved BCBG pinstripped pumps. I cuffed my jeans to flow with the vintage ambience of the fedora. Plus I just love the look of cuffed jeans. I threw on a delightful new modcloth.com purchase called The Tools of the Trade necklace, which I feel adds to the tomboy vibe. I love this look because of the eclectic nature of it, I feel uniquely me in it. I've never really loved patterns so I stuck with solid colors to stay true to my style. That's also why I went with a dark wash skinny jeans. 9 out of 10 times thats what I'm wearing! Additionally I love the versitality of this outfit. You could pair it with a million different shoes and color combos to create a completely transformed look!- Erica C.

Love your look Erica, from head to toe! Thanks for sharing and hope you all enjoy xx

Meow! Trend Alert: cat eye sunglasses

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

By Jody Marich

Tis the season for new shades!
As the temperatures heat up, cat eye shades are the sunnies to try! The classic 50's staple has been revamped.

With designers playing around with the (old) but new trend, this summer cat eye sunglasses are to go to shades. Designers like Alexander Wang and Prada were a few to jump on the bandwagon, using bold statement colors along with oversized, futuristic shapes.

The oversized version on this classic shade, gives any fashionista the retro chic look for summer. For a bold look, try a pair in statement colors, like gold, pink, or green. Tortoise is another great color to choose.

Cat eye sunglasses are everywhere for s/s 2010. From runways to celebs, everyone is trying this look. Whether you want to spend big bucks or just a couple dollars, this accessory trend is definitely one to try this summer.

Cat eye sunnies are flattering to most. The upswept sides emphasize cheekbones and add definition to your face but make sure you try them on before you buy. You don't want to get lost behind them or have an unflattering fit.

Here are some tips to find the right pair of cat eye sunnies for you.

1. Determine your face shape- is it oval, square, diamond, heart shaped, round, or rectangular?
2. Consider you features- if you have a small face with tiny features, it will be harder to pull off big, bulky sunglasses.
3. Frames should follow your eyebrows
4. Cat eyes are more geometric so they are better suited for angular faces, but don't get discouraged, there is a right pair for everyone, just keep trying!

Channeling Chanel

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

From the runways to sidewalks, temporary tattoos are the "haute" accessory trend for spring 2010. Designers like Jean Paul Gautier and Chanel displayed these sexy details during their runway shows. Decorating the body has become the new jewelry for 2010.

Chanel has created a new line of temporary tattoos, called, Les Trompe L'Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art. The classical touches of Chanel combined with the edgy look of tattoos creates a sexy and seductive look that anyone can sport.

The exclusive and limited edition tattoos just went on sale earlier this month. With design ranging from the famous double c's to rosary beads and lace, these tats are super cute. A pack of 5 sheets that include 55 unique tattoos costs around $75, which is really inexpensive for Chanel.

The description from the Chanel website is:

"Fifty-five exclusive temporary tattoos in all, originally hand-drawn by Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, for the Spring-Summer 2010 Fashion Show in Paris. Artful images of CHANEL symbols and icons, including Oriental cherry blossoms and birds, can be mixed and matched for unlimited effects."

The new trend is a perfect accessory for the edginess that has been so obvious since fall 2009.

With the mixture of feminine and edgy details, these tattoos will get some fashionistas super excited. Would you ever try this trend?
