The world of Tadashi Shoji

This year I was able to pay a lot more attention to NYFW as it was happening. Working at a busy office,  I would secretly tune into live stream whenever I could. The first day of Fashion Week I was lucky enough to catch designer, Tadashi Shoji's collection & OMG, it was fabulous!

Being a Social Media Director, I manage Facebook , Twitter, Google +, etc  for my company so it's easy to sneak into my personal profiles every once in a while & take a peek. I signed into Twitter & saw MBFW tweet "ladies in lace." That was enough to catch my eye. I clicked the live stream link & I was immediately sucked in. I had to watch this show. 


Being down a girl last week, I kept the live stream music bumpin' while I worked away on projects but couldn't help myself when I discovered the world of Tadashi Shoji. His designs were so soft. Lace, pastels, light layers, sparkle details & sheer fabrics created a beautiful world of ethereal elegance.

It's wonderful having social media to show you as it's happening. I would have never discovered this designer if I hadn't hopped on Twitter. Now, I'm in love.

 Showing his collection the first day of Fashion Week set up the SS 2014 runways well. The pieces were a great way to introduce what trends are going to be prominent for next Spring.

And it doesn't hurt to see Tadashi Shoji tweet back to me... it makes anybody a happy camper, when a designer recognizes his fans! Even if it was just someone who maintains the social media (like me) it's still a nice touch as customers love to interact with brands. 


I have to say his collection was breathtaking. It was a fresh look into a designer I hadn't heard of & now, he has a new fan!

Walking down the graduation runway

Today I was talking to one of my dear friends, Jill,  about having blogger's block. I told her I just couldn't get out of the funk I have been in. Maybe it's because I am graduating from college and have SO many other things on my mind. Whatever it is/ was she helped me come up with a brilliant idea for anyone who is graduating this December or anytime for that matter.

What to wear to graduation?

First and foremost, I think it depends on what type of school it is. If it is a public, state school or college, the dress code can be a little more lenient. 

Attending Flagler College, a private school, my dress code mandatory. If we don't follow the rules, we don't get to walk:
"DRESS FOR COMMENCEMENT: Men are to wear a dress shirt (preferable white) and tie, dark slacks, and dress shoes. Women are to wear a dress or dark dress slacks/skirt and blouse, and dress shoes. Students not adhering to this dress code, will not be allowed to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Caps and Gowns must be ordered by the graduate with Jostens, Inc. at www.jostens.com or with a Jostens rep on campus on various advertised days . They will be delivered to the college for pickup during Graduation Clearance Week."- Flagler College website.

Remember, always to factor in:
❤weather- check the 10 day forecast to see if it's going to be cold, hot, or rainy, in case you have to make changes.
❤where the ceremony takes place- is it inside or outside? That should always be in the back of your mind when choosing what to wear.
❤what color your gown is - you don't want clothing to show through.


You want to look professional and polished, since you are officially moving into the "real world." Just remember the acronym: KISS - Keep it simple, sexy - I replaced stupid with sexy because this is your day to shine!

With all of this said, here are a few different choices on how to look perfect for you "graduation runway" debut.

With this outfit, you could put the shirt and sweater together or just pick one piece to wear.

For each outfit, I chose a pair of flats and heels. If you wear heels be careful. You want to have something comfortable, so you can walk in them, maybe even do a little practice walk before hand.

These are just some outfits that could work for the big walk but a few things to remember when shopping is:
❤Find something that is versatile- something you can be comfortable in for the ceremony and then take pictures in afterwards, even go out for a celebratory meal in. 
❤Choose a piece or outfit that won't look weird under your gown- you don't want a dress giving you a strange figure (even though the gown usually makes us look like we are wearing a potato sack!)
❤Keep jewelry to a minimum- one or two little pieces works but like I said, keep it simple, there's nothing like getting an earring caught in your tassel or bangles jingling. 
❤Keep your ceremony venue in mind-  you don't want crazy shoes that sink into the grass or uncomfortable fabrics bringing you down. 
❤Remember, this is your big day. It's a day to celebrate with family and friends. Don't wear something that will make you feel uncomfortable around these people. 

With graduation comes a whole new chapter in life. It's a time to celebrate your achievements with the ones you love. The biggest thing to remember is HAVE FUN! This is your day to shine. Walk with pride and be the little superstar that you are. 

Congrats to all that are graduating! I know I'm excited about it!

Tighten Up!

With cool temperatures lingering, tights are the perfect wardrobe piece to keep you and your legs warm!

The style dilemma that we all have during the winter months is showing our pasty legs, but tights are the perfect solution for looking cute and stylish while still being practical.


With so many patterns, textures and styles there are endless possibilities on the type of style approach you want to take.



First and foremost are opaque tights. These can range from dark colors, like black or brown to hot pink and blue. It all depends on the style you are going for. These colored tights can spice up any ordinary outfit by giving it that little edge and giving you that pop of color.



Jewel tones and darker tights seem to be the more popular colors but with spring around the corner, more people will be choosing bright colors. When venturing out into the world of bright colored tights keep in mind that the brightness brings more attention to your legs so make sure you are comfortable showing them off and keep the rest of your outfit simple.


Textured tights are a great way to create a more feminine look. Textures include lace, fishnets, polka dots, ribbed and a variety of patterns like plaid. These tights give your outfit detail, whether they become the focal point of your outfit or compliment what you are wearing, this tight is always a good choice to have.

Shoes that look great with tights include, boots, ankle boots, flats, heels, and peep toe, just to name a few.


This trend can be paired with dresses, skirts, and dressy shorts. My favorite look is the sweater dress paired with tights and boots/ booties. You look super cute while staying warm.

If you like going out at night but want to say warm, try pairing a tight with a cute party dress and heels. Use accessories to spice up the outfit so you look HOT while staying warm.


As the rocker, 80’s inspired trends roll on, if you want to go crazy, try cut out, ripped or studded tights. This look gives you that rocker edge that is totally hot right now. As said before, keep in mind that the embellishment will bring more attention to your legs so be prepared.


Tights also come in many lengths.

  • The capri tight hits at your calf, for those days where temperatures rise.
  • The ankle tight hits right at your ankle while still revealing your foot.
  • The full length tight covers the whole foot, a great choice for those cold days.


Remember fashion is fun it is uniquely you!
